A group of young women in Fredericksburg, VA fought off an attacker and a would-be purse thief on Thursday. The unidentified man initially stole two of the friends’ purses, only to get into an altercation with the other women. “He dropped one of the purses in the process and the other purse was wrestled away from him by one of the ladies, according to the Fredericksburg PD,” The Star Exponent writes. This story makes it pretty clear: women have strong feelings about their fashion handbags, and they’re willing to fight to defend them. What purses are you most likely to see out and about this fall?
Are Purses and Phones Two Of Your Favorite Things? You’re In Luck!
Purses have come a long way over the years, with some of the first purses, popular in 1800s, designed to carry only combs, handkerchiefs, pencils, and smelling salts. Nowadays, women are more likely to carry things like wallets, makeup, snacks for their kids — or themselves! — hand sanitizer, books, and of course the ubiquitous cell phones.
Soon, wholesale fashion handbags and various handbag and purse designs will seamlessly incorporate discreet smartphone chargers. “Several companies have come up with purses or wallets with charging devices built in, or hidden inside,” The Wall Street Journal writes. The handbag styles vary a great deal; the new, plugged-in purses are available in a wide selection of colors and range from the size of a wallet to big enough to easily carry an iPad mini.
It’s All About Personality
Another thing to look out for this fall is wholesale bags with personality. Handbag and purse designs will range “from a brown fringed suede ‘Bohemian’ bags; neat, square nautical striped cloth handbags on long straps; to shiny plastics. There are real and faux leathers, most types of fabric and even bags shaped by small wooden sticks that resemble a sushi roller,” The Telegraph reports. Can’t choose just one? No problem! Studies show the average U.S. woman owns at least six unique handbags.
In the U.S. alone, there are more than 27,999 purse and luggage companies — and, this fall, they’re giving you even more options, when it comes to both practicalities (like charging your phone) and fashion.
